This photo was taken one week after my dad endured the "AAA" a ruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm. He has had one of the most remarkable recoveries we could have ever imagined.
On August 31st, Labor Day weekend, Mary and Mom took dad to the hospital for what they thought was a kidney stone. Chris, Nick and I were at the cabin with our families when we got the call that dad was going into emergency surgery and that we should get to the hospital. The first thing I was grateful for was that my sister Mary had decided at the last minute to stay home for the weekend, and the second thing was that my mother had bullied my dad into sticking around Friday night for a party he didn't want to go to.
There is no question he'd be dead if wasn't in exactly the right place at the right time. We are blessed. Very, very blessed.
