The Good News and the Bad News

The good news is that James's project seems to be coming together pretty well - the bad news is that he's working 120 hours a week right now (literally). Today photo is post nap/pre work shift - see how he's smiling?

Though we're lonely for James, the boys and I are holding up quite well. We went to lunch at Snuffy's today and Seamus was the perfect gentleman. Polite. Chatty. Frankly, pretty charming. I'm sure tomorrow he'll do something to even out the universe of the two year old, but he's been lots of fun lately. He informed me at lunch that his favorite color is green. Sometimes you looks at these kids and your heart just wants to burst.

We're heading over to see baby Maria in a bit - its going to be hard to get my baby girl fill - but I'm sure we'll make due. Poor Sarah, she's going to be stuck with me on her doorstep all summer long. :)

Finn is cruising so fast now - no matter where he is - if he hears the refrigerator door open - you'd better know what you want out of it - in a flash he's standing up against the crisper laughing. You'd think I'm not feeding him enough - but the kid eats like its his last meal every time.

We Love Maria!

Maria Kathleen Imholte!

8 lbs 3 ounces and healthy! She put her parents through quite an arrival - but we're glad she's here! I'll add some pictures later. Seamus and Finn will be vying for her affection!

Dreary Monday

No news to report today. The grey sky is making us feel a little blue - BUT fortunately we're heading to the Nei's house for some play and dinner fun! I guess by the pictures, you can see that the dank weather doesn't bother the boys as much as me. Isn't it almost Spring?

Still no word on baby Imholte yet either...

Seamus - A Budding Photographer?

So I sit down to download some pictures from the camera, and I find a group of about 25 pictures Seamus took while I thought he was playing with his trains. Here's a view from his world...

Gratuitous Finn Pictures

Since for whatever reason 90% of all the picture titled "Finn's Birth" in our album are of Seamus - I'm going to "even the pile" as grandma D would say.

And who can resist a cute Finn picture anyway?

Waiting on Baby Ho...

As his or her due date fades farther into the past, we are eagerly waiting for the arrival of the newest Imholte. Finn was just saying this morning that he can't wait to be the big cousin - and then Seamus sat on his head.

Seriously, we're sending lots of good vibes to the three (impending) Imholte's - can't wait to meet the new little one - I mean - I guess we CAN wait but we're certainly NOT happy about it.

Cousins Everywhere!

Today was a counsintastic day. This morning the boys and I were joined by big cousin Shannon - the four of us went to see big cousin Fritz kick basketball butt for STA. Serious, I was so proud of Fritz. This might come as a surprise to many of you, but I am not considered a Basketball Guru, BUT even I could see that Fritz had one of the key games of his career. I've never seen a kid so deeply present in every moment of a sporting event (or anything for that matter). He really showed everyone what it means to work hard and step up - I'm thinking this will carrying him far off the basketball court. Way to go Fritz.

At the game was a plethora of other midsized cousins - Seamus was in heaven. The boys then spent the afternoon with more Reagan cousins and a sprinkling of Waldvogel ones too. He looks spent tonight.

We are capping off the day with a serving of biggest cousin Carl. He has graciously offered to babysit for the boys tonight - while James and I "tear it up" with some Best Buy folks. Every relative that I told this to - asked me if Carl was on Spring Break. Folks, he's got a Master's Degree, a well paying job in MINNEAPOLIS, and a pretty darn serious girl friend. The strange thing is not that he's home - it's that he's more of an adult than ME.

For all you grandmas out there - here's a photo from tonight. The boys are so Irish their bath water is GREEN. Love to you all!

Let the Wild Rumpus Start!

Meet the boys: James, strikingly handsome, yet fun loving dad; Seamus, affectionate and rowdy; Finn, don't call him a baby - he's a wild man. These are my boys. And boy, am I proud.

James is working his tail off (to use my father's favorite phrase) at a project for Best Buy. You'd think he'd be in heaven working at what is essentially his Mecca; but apparently BUYING electronics for yourself and PAYING the poor folks who sell the stuff is really quite different. Who knew?

Seamus is in the throws of learning to talk. This makes every day an interesting adventure that typically begins like this:
Mom (with one eye open): "Good morning, pumpkin. How did you sleep? Oh. Hmmm? Say that again, honey. Ahhh. What did you eat? The shovel hit what? Fingers out of your mouth so mom can understand. Sharks in the basement? Finn's happy? It happens? OK, sweetie, mom's going to get a pot of coffee to brush her teeth with..."

Finn is our family muppet. He is currently hell on wheels. And happy about it. We call him our adorable little Roomba - put him on the ground and he'll systematically cover all the ground space while sucking up small objects (and some not so small objects). He also has a knack for finding Kleenex - I swear he has it stashed all over the house - I have to continually check his mouth for more contraband - I hope this isn't a preview of the high school years...

When we're visiting my parents, my mom always says that "my boys love love." It sure is the truth.

Um....a website that isn't totally outdated?

Hello All,

In an effort to reclaim angry friends and family all over the planet (seamusdougherty.com made us some enemies), we're hoping to start anew. Here's our take on chronicling life with three boys and a VERY patient girl in St. Paul, Minnesota....
